The AD8232 Heart Rate Monitor Kit is a cost-effective and reliable ECG module designed to measure the electrical activity of the heart. It captures and outputs ECG signals as analog readings, making it an excellent choice for Arduino-based biomedical and wearable electronics projects.

Since ECG signals are often affected by noise, the AD8232 single-lead ECG sensor includes an integrated instrumentation amplifier and filter system that helps obtain clean readings from PR and QT intervals. It is specifically built to extract, amplify, and filter small bio-potential signals even in the presence of motion or external interference.

How It Works

The module breaks out nine important connections, allowing flexible wiring with Arduino or other microcontroller boards. Essential operating pins include SDN, LO+, LO-, OUTPUT, 3.3V, and GND.

Additionally, RA (Right Arm), LA (Left Arm), and RL (Right Leg) pins enable the use of custom electrodes. The onboard LED blinks in sync with the detected heartbeat, providing a quick visual indicator of activity.

Steps to Use

  • Go to the “Attachments” section on the product page and download the ZIP file.
  • Unzip it and copy the folder to your Arduino “Libraries” folder.
  • Open the Heart_Rate_Display_Arduino example in Arduino IDE.
  • Compile and upload the code to your board.
  • Open the Serial Plotter to view real-time ECG waveforms.
