Description

The MAX7219 Digital Tube Display Module Control Module is a versatile and efficient display driver designed for controlling 7-segment LED displays, bar graphs, or individual LEDs. It integrates a four-wire serial interface, making it compatible with all common microcontrollers and microprocessors. The module allows for addressing and updating individual data without rewriting the entire display, and it supports both encoded and non-encoded data selection. The MAX7219 features an on-chip BCD encoder, multi-channel scanning loop, segment word driver, and 8×8 static RAM for data storage. It only requires a single external register to set the current for each LED segment. The module also includes a low-power shutdown mode (150μA), analog and digital brightness control, and a scan-limit register that can display 1-8 bits of data. Additionally, it supports an all-LED light detection mode for enhanced functionality and control.

Features:

Three IO Ports: Only requires three IO ports to drive an 8-bit digital tube.

Wide Compatibility: Compatible with 5V/3.3V microcontrollers (51, AVR, STM32) and Raspberry Pi.

Compact Size: Small and space-saving, suitable for tight installations with dimensions of 83 x 15 x 17 mm.

Enhanced Safety: PCB board features fixed copper studs on all four corners to effectively prevent short circuit accidents.

Versatile Use: Ideal for various applications requiring simple, reliable digital display control.

Great deal for 7 segments displays.

These are great! I'm building a simple control box for my laser cutter and I'll be using these to display the flow rate of the water and the total power usage of the laser (40w max) so nothing too crazy but these are easy to use and work out of the box with the Arduino libraries for the MAX7219. I've already got about 15-20 loose 7-segment displays but for the price this was a no-brainer for this project, much less hand soldering and a smaller layout.

Not to difficult...requires soldering

Just as my headline states...a little code and some soldering skills for the pins are required. You'll need to research further code to be able to dim the display a little because it is REALLY BRIGHT.
