Paper Punching Machine using Geneva Mechanism

Description

A paper punching machine is a tool often found in offices and classrooms, designed to punch a large set of paper at once with a straight edge. In paper industry, for ease of handling, storage and application, papers are usually manufactured, packed and then transported in rolls. Once they reach the desired destination, the paper has to be drawn out of the roll and punched at equal intervals before using commercially as per requirement. An intermittent mechanism is used to punch the paper in equal lengths.

The intermittent mechanism or intermittent movement is the device by which a conveyor is regularly advanced and then held in place for a brief duration of time in contrast to a continuous mechanism, whereby the conveyor is constantly in motion. This type of mechanism works very accurately in material handling industry with simple construction and reliable design.

The idea is to combine this intermittent mechanism of drawing the paper out of the roll in standard length with the automated paper punching tool is such a way that both processes takes place with minimum power consumption giving out efficient results.
