Description

DIY 18DOF Aluminum Hexapod Spider Six 3DOF Legs Robot Kit

The complete set of structural parts of this 6-legged bionic pider robot is die-casted from 3MM hard aluminum alloy, and the surface is sandblasted and oxidized. It is strong and light, and has a beautiful appearance. Each leg of the robot is connected by 3 servo motors and structural parts. There are 6 legs in total, and 18 servo steering gears are shared. From the perspective of bionic structure, it fully meets the various crawling actions of 6-legged creatures in nature such as spiders and reptiles. The controller coordinates each steering gear to make different postures, and connects them end to end in time to form a series of ingenious and vivid bionic actions. The whole set of equipment has a solid structure and can be used for research and study of mechanical and electronic DIY enthusiasts, educational and teaching experimental platform kits, school creative interest science and technology activities, etc. It can also be used in various college students and youth science and technology competition products, adding functions to your works and unlimited creativity!

The total weight of the whole product after installation is about 3KG, and the diameter of the area occupied by the legs is about 60CM. It is a DIY platform with super cost-effectiveness. We have added 9G servo installation holes in the structural design, which can be used to install 9G servo gimbals, ultrasonic and infrared sensors, cameras, etc., to achieve event-driven gameplay.

Power supply solution

This 6-legged bionic spider robot has 18 servo motors that can work together at the same time. The instantaneous start and stop current of each servo motor is relatively large, so the power supply requirements are relatively high. Ordinary voltage-stabilized power supplies and batteries are not enough to provide sufficient power. The normal working voltage of our servo motor is 5-7V. The higher the voltage, the faster the servo steering gear responds and the greater the torque. However, if the voltage exceeds 7V, the servo steering gear will be easily damaged. At present, our store provides two power supply solutions: 1. High-discharge rate aircraft model battery - small and simple, easy to carry; 2. High-power switching power supply - to ensure long-term power supply for research and learning.

Control scheme

If you use the servo controller provided by our store, it can control all analog or digital servo servos with standard pulse width control protocols, but cannot control serial port servo servos. Please note that the servo controller provided by our store has two models: 32-channel and 16-channel, which can be selected according to customer requirements. In principle, the universal 32-channel servo controller can control 32-channel servo servos to work simultaneously, but the 6-legged bionic spider robot uses 18 of the control interfaces, and customers can also use the remaining interfaces to play a role in their works.

(----) Equipped with host computer debugging software, it adopts C# visual programming and encapsulates action commands. You only need to operate the control button of the corresponding motor to adjust the angle, run time, save action, download action and other operations to quickly master the action programming.

(----) Equipped with wireless remote control handle, it can remotely control the functions of different action groups downloaded to the controller in real time.

(----) The downloaded action can be run offline in a loop, and it will run repeatedly until it stops once powered on. Of course, enthusiasts with a certain foundation can also design their own servo controllers. Here are some reference materials. DIY is all about the process.

Advanced Control

Our servo controller has a USB communication port. You can communicate with the controller by serial port by plugging in a USB cable to connect to the PC. You can use the host computer software or any other serial port debugging tools that come with our controller. In addition, a TTL level serial port interface for the microcontroller is reserved. It needs to be connected and can communicate with any external microcontroller or other device with a serial port, so that the external device can control the device's operating status in real time through serial port commands to achieve the action requirements required by the customer.

Learning Platform

The 6-legged bionic spider robot is a comprehensive platform integrating mechanical design, electronic technology, automation technology, computer programming, single-chip microcomputer technology and communication technology. If similar products need to be designed, these subject foundations are indispensable. It is an intersection of mechatronics, electronics, computer and automation, and is a good teaching and practice platform for these majors. It is also of great significance to the cultivation of innovation and creative thinking of young people.

Precautions for use

The 6-legged bionic spider robot is not a children's toy. Teenagers need to operate it under the supervision of teachers or parents. The following are some important precautions. I hope customers and enthusiasts must follow them! (----) Avoid short circuit of the battery (power supply). Since the battery and power supply used in the model aircraft are relatively large, once short circuited, the equipment will be burned at best, and fire or even explosion will occur at worst. (----) Avoid overcharging the battery. The charging time of each battery varies according to the battery capacity. When charging, pay attention to the status of the charger indicator light and remove the battery in time when it is full. (----) When using the model aircraft battery, do not over-discharge it. If you find that the battery is low, you should charge it in time. Over-discharge will affect the battery life. (---- ) The servo servo is installed on the mechanical structure. The structure has a certain range of motion, which may be smaller or larger than the range of motion angles of the servo servo. Be careful not to let the motor stall during debugging (that is, the motor is stuck and can no longer rotate in the direction of adjustment, which is often related to the structural installation). Pay special attention to this point during debugging. The servo motor has a large range of motion, and the structure does not allow it to stall the motor most easily. After a while, the motor will burn out. (----) The motors used are all high torque. Be careful not to get your hands caught when powering on or operating. (----) Pay attention to the line sequence when connecting the servo motor to the controller. Do not insert the wrong positive and negative poles. The control line of the servo steering gear: usually red is positive, black or brown is negative, and yellow or white is the signal line.
