Description

5MM 5506 LDR Photosensitive Resistor

The 5MM 5506 ldr light sensor is a high-quality ldr photoresistor that changes resistance with varying ambient light intensity. This Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) is widely used in light-sensing applications ldr light sensor including automatic outdoor and indoor lighting systems.

As light exposure on the sensor’s surface increases, its resistance decreases—allowing the circuit to detect brightness changes effectively. This makes it an ideal component for creating automatic ON/OFF lighting systems and other responsive designs.

The LDR 5MM sensor works efficiently in both bright and dark conditions. Since it mimics the response of the human eye, it performs reliably in a range of lighting environments. In other words, when the light on the sensor increases, the resistance across its two leads decreases.

This component consists of two Cadmium Sulphide (CdS) photo-conductive cells with a spectral response similar to that of the human eye. As light intensity rises, the cell resistance falls, ensuring smooth detection and fast response. Common uses include smoke detection, automatic lighting control, batch counting, and burglar alarm systems.
