Creating a water level alarm using a float ball and switch is a useful DIY project that alerts you when the water level in a tank or container reaches a specific threshold. This can be particularly helpful to prevent overflows levels. DIY water level alarm with a float ball and switch is a practical project that can help prevent Water-Level issues and provide an early Alarm/Warning system for various applications. It demonstrates the concept of using a simple sensor to trigger an alarm, promoting safety and awareness.

As the water level in the tank rises, the float ball will be lifted by the increasing water level. When the float ball reaches a certain high level, the Switch attached with the ball will close the circuit and hence activate the buzzer or alarm module. The buzzer will sound to alert you that the water level has reached the set threshold.

Wiring: Connect the Normally Closed (COM) terminal of the switch to the Positive terminal of the power supply. Connect the Common (NC) terminal of the switch to the Positive terminal of the LED and buzzer alarm module and the Negative Pin of the LED and Buzzer is Directly connected With the Negative terminal of the power supply.

Materials Used:

  • Microswitch COM-NO-NC (microswitch with Common, Normally Open, and Normally Closed terminals)

Mounting the Float Ball and Switch:

  • Attach the float ball to the float arm of the COM-NO-NC switch. The float ball should be able to rise and fall with the water level. Mount the switch in a position where the float ball can activate the switch when the water level changes.

How It Works

  • As the water level falls, the float ball will lower, deactivating the COM-NO-NC switch.
  • The switch's Normally Closed (NC) contact will close again, completing the circuit and activating the alarm.
  • The switch's Normally Open (NO) contact will open, breaking the circuit and deactivating the buzzer.
  • As the water level rises, the float ball will also rise, activating the COM-NO-NC switch.
  • The switch's Normally Closed (NC) contact will open, breaking the circuit and deactivating the alarm.
  • The switch's Normally Open (NO) contact will close, completing the circuit and activating the buzzer.
