Description

Rack gears are straight bars with gear teeth running along one side that mesh with the gear teeth of a pinion. Usually, the teeth are straight (spur rack). Rack and pinion systems are sometimes used instead of trapezoidal threaded shafts and nuts to move a machine head back and forth.
