Description
The 8 Channel IR Tracking Sensor Module is a high-performance infrared sensing board designed for line following, path detection, and robotic navigation applications. Featuring 8 independent infrared sensing channels, this module detects differences in surface reflectivity, making it suitable for identifying black and white lines in robotic tracking systems.
Operating on a 3.3V to 5V DC power supply, the module provides 8 individual sensor outputs for interfacing with compatible microcontrollers, including Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, STM32, and other embedded development platforms. Its compact PCB design enables easy integration into smart robotic vehicles, line follower robots, and automated navigation systems.
The module uses infrared reflection sensing technology to detect surface contrast and supports multi-point tracking for improved line position detection. With its 66 x 17 x 3 mm compact PCB dimensions and convenient connection interface, it is ideal for robotics, educational projects, automation systems, and DIY electronics.

Working Principle
- The module uses infrared sensing elements to detect reflected infrared light from a surface.
- Light-coloured surfaces generally reflect more infrared light than dark-coloured surfaces.
- Each sensing channel responds to the infrared reflection received from the surface below it.
- The individual channel outputs allow a microcontroller to determine which sensing positions are over a line.
- By processing multiple sensor signals, a robot can estimate line position and adjust its movement.
- Detection performance depends on surface material, sensor distance, lighting conditions, and calibration.
