AMG8833 IR 8×8 Thermal Imager Array Temperature Sensor Module

The AMG8833 is an IR thermal sensor array that provides an 8×8 grid of temperature readings over the I2C interface. When connected to a microcontroller or Raspberry Pi, it returns an array of 64 individual infrared temperature values, making it a compact and efficient thermal imaging solution. It measures temperatures ranging from 0°C to 80°C with ±2.5°C accuracy and can detect a human presence up to 7 meters away.

With a maximum frame rate of 10Hz, this module is ideal for building human detectors, mini thermal cameras, and smart automation systems. It features a configurable interrupt pin, on-board voltage regulator, and level shifters for compatibility with both 3.3V and 5V logic systems. The AMG8833 is an improved version of the AMG8831, offering better performance and stability.

Pin Description

  • Vin: Power input (3–5V DC) with onboard 3.3V regulator.
  • 3Vo: 3.3V output from the regulator (max 100mA).
  • GND: Common ground for power and logic.
  • SCL: I2C clock pin with 10K pull-up resistor, supports 3–5V logic.
  • SDA: I2C data pin with 10K pull-up resistor, supports 3–5V logic.
  • INT: Interrupt output pin (3V logic) for motion or temperature change detection.
