The HEDS-9700 series Sensor Module is a high-performance, low-cost optical incremental encoder designed for accurate rotary and linear position detection. When used with a compatible codewheel or codestrip, this module precisely detects motion and position, making it suitable for industrial, automation, and motion control applications.

The module integrates a lensed LED light source and a photodetector IC within a compact C-shaped plastic package. Thanks to its highly collimated light source and unique detector array, the HEDS-9700 offers excellent tolerance to mounting misalignment. It provides two-channel quadrature digital outputs with TTL compatibility and operates from a single 5V power supply.
