It is used to drill holes in multiple work pieces simultaneously, in one setting. The holes are drilled on a number of work pieces with the same accuracy, so as to make them interchangeable. This machine, as the name suggests, has multiple spindles driven by a single motor and each spindle is fed in to the work piece simultaneously. Feeding motion is obtained either by raising the work table or by lowering the drills head using rack and pinion mechanism.
