The Nano does not include a DC power jack and instead operates using a Mini-B USB connection. It automatically senses and switches to the highest available power source, eliminating the need for a manual power-select jumper.
This surface-mount design makes the Arduino Nano one of the smallest and most complete Arduino boards, while still remaining extremely easy to use on a breadboard. Electrically, it provides everything available on the Diecimila/Duemilanove, with the addition of more analog input pins and an onboard +5V AREF jumper.
The Nano combines the breadboard-friendly nature of Boarduino with integrated USB connectivity in a smaller footprint, giving users more working space on standard breadboards. Version 3.0 uses the ATmega328, offering increased program and data memory. Its two-layer PCB design makes it easier to modify and more cost-effective.
