Description

LCD Keypad Shield with 16×2 Display for Arduino (Cytron Compatible)

The LCD Keypad Shield is a popular and user-friendly Arduino-compatible navigation shield designed for creating menu-based interfaces and interactive projects. It is suitable for Arduino main boards such as Arduino Uno and Arduino Leonardo.

This shield integrates a 16×2 (1602) character LCD with 6 momentary push buttons for easy navigation, including Select, Up, Down, Left, Right, and Reset.

To conserve I/O pins, all navigation buttons are read using a single ADC input through a 5-stage voltage divider. An onboard power LED indicates when the shield is powered on.

Note: Adjust the onboard blue potentiometer to set the LCD contrast for optimal visibility.

Works really well with the standard Arduino liquid crystal library; I had a sample program displaying text and handling button presses up and running in just a couple of minutes.

Works great with the Nucleo F401RE

Appears to be very good quality. Crisp silkscreen and nice soldering. LCD has no problem with the 3.3v logic level. All buttons are readable with distinct analog values, and the reset button works too. Using mbed OS 5 and the TextLCD library to drive it. And since the Nucleo is 5v tolerant on all pins, the 5v vcc breakouts can be used without a level converter. Kind of ironic that the mbed ecosystem has a more Arduino-compatible ARM board than the Due or Zero.
