Description

TTP224 4-way 4 channel Capacitive Touch Switch Module

This is a 4-switch digital touch sensor with capacitive sense technology, the TTP 224 IC offers a capacitive sense input feed designed for touchpad control, followed by a 4- 4-finger-sized touchpad. The board has a jumper’s arrangement to change the keypress output mode in Timed or Toggle, Active High or Active Low. Separate jumper adjustments are provided for changing the response time of the pressed key: 60mS fast mode or 160mS in Low power. The output side of the board has 6-pin headers, with 4 pins to be connected with the digital I/O of any microcontroller board (Arduino, ARM STM32). 4 status LED SMD types are provided to check the status of each pressed key. TTP 224 4-Channel Digital Touch Sensor is compatible with all Arduino’s boards. The board finds applications in HMI(Human-machine Interface), and mechanical Button key replacement.

Note : HW-138 on board working remains the same.

These are active high devices. They can be modified for active low, but you will have to cut a trace and solder some pins....

    Exceeds my expectations

I was able to get this working with a Raspberry Pi and a ESP8266 board with Python/Micro-Python. You can even feed a wire through the small hole next to the sensor and use anything conductive as the touch sensor (steel plate, coin, banana, whatever.)

    Momentary touch switch

This is the "momentary" variety of the touch sensor - touch and it turns on, release and it turns off. The description was not real clear on that. Works pretty good even without an Arduino. I hooked up a couple of leds, touched the sensor, and viola! the leds lit up, took my finger away and they went dark.
