DescriptionThe AC current flowing in both directions and the DC current flows only in one direction. Most of the electronics circuits run on a DC power supply and the main power supply available to us is AC. Hence we need to convert AC into DC for most of the home appliances. There are many types of circuits for AC to DC conversion, they are known as rectifiers. Here we have shown a simple half-wave rectifier.
The AC to DC Conversion using Diode Circuits introduce two concepts, one: the AC current flows in two directions, and second: One diode can convert AC power into DC. In the circuit at the Input section, the current is AC hence both the LEDs will glow after passing through diode D5, it gets converted into DC hence only the LED connected in forwarding mode will turn on.
