Description
This Dark light detector circuit is based on the working principle of LDR(Light Dependent Resistors). As the light falls on it, its resistance decreases. Using this property, we have designed a resistor divider network using R1 (LDR) and R2. As the light falling on the LDR increases, the value of R1 increases, and hence the voltage at pin 2 of the comparator IC(lm358) increases.
The dark light detector is the inverting terminal of the comparator. All the comparators have a unique property to compare the voltage between its two input pins viz inverting input and a non-inverting input. If the voltage of inverting pin becomes lower than the voltage of the noninverting pin, its output becomes high. Hence, we can summarize that, in dark conditions, as the light falling on LDR becomes low, the output becomes high in the given circuit diagram.
