Dice Project
In the kit Dice Project Press the push switches to ‘throw’ the dice: this makes the circuit rapidly cycle through the dice numbers so that an effectively random dice number is displayed by the LEDs when the push switch is released. Each output becomes high in turn as the clock pulses are received by 555 timers IC. Only six counts are needed for led a reset switch connected to. Appropriate outputs are combined with diodes to supply the LEDs.

Description
This Dice Project consists of LEDs, a 555 Timer IC and a 4017 Decade Counter IC and produces a random number between 1 and 6 by lighting up the corresponding LED. This makes dice suitable as gambling devices for games like craps, or for use in non-gambling tabletop games. The 555 astable circuit provides clock pulses at about 5 kHz for the 4017 counter which has ten outputs. In the kit Dice Project Press the push switches to ‘throw’ the dice: this makes the circuit rapidly cycle through the dice numbers so that an effectively random dice number is displayed by the LEDs when the push switch is released.
