Description
This is a kit PC-based two-channel oscilloscope running model of PC based two-channel oscilloscope for low-frequency operation. The AVR microcontroller is there to read the data from its two ADC channels. These data are further sent to the PC. The software running on the PC reads the data and presents these in the form of a graph. There are two devices provided for signal generation, one is the 555 timer and the second one is preset. The output of these devices can be connected with any one channel of the controller. The frequency of operation of 555 can be changed and the output voltage of the preset can be changed.
This PC-based two-channel oscilloscope kit is the power supply unit of the microcontroller is has a bridge rectifier, capacitive filter, and regulator. Hence the system can be powered up by either an AC or DC supply of 12 V. It can be powered up by a USB power supply also. The connection between the microcontroller and the PC is based on UART communication.
The data sent over the com port of the PC is received by software based on processing programming language. The PC-based two-channel oscilloscope system can be further upgraded to read the voltage of more than 5 volts also by using a resistor dividing circuit and range selector switch. Any voltage can be measured with the device within the range.
