Power Generation using Railway Track

The Power Generation Using Railway Track project is a working model that demonstrates how electricity can be generated from the mechanical force produced when a train moves over railway tracks. During train movement, a large amount of energy is produced in the form of pressure and vibration on the track. This project captures that mechanical energy and converts it into electrical energy using a simple mechanical mechanism and a small generator.

In this model, the railway track structure is mounted on a strong metal frame. When load is applied on the track (to simulate a train passing), the top section moves slightly. This movement is transferred through a linkage/gear mechanism to a rotating shaft. The shaft drives a DC motor used as a generator, which produces electrical output through the connected wires. The generated electricity can be shown by lighting an LED or powering a small load, making the output easy to observe during demonstrations.

NOTE 1: The picture is only meant to show what it looks like. The final product's size may be a little different. The color of the input materials may also change depending on what is available, but the variation does not affect how the product works. The final product won't look as good as the picture since it's just for the student project.
