XKC-KP200A Through-Beam Infrared Photoelectric Sensor – DC 5-24V NPN Normally Open (NO)

The XKC-KP200A Through-Beam Infrared Photoelectric Sensor is a non-contact object detection system consisting of a separate infrared transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX). When an object interrupts the infrared beam between the aligned units, the receiver changes its output state for use with compatible controllers and automation equipment. This NPN Normally Open (NO) version is suitable for object detection and positioning applications.

Operating on a DC 5-24V power supply, the sensor offers a specified 5-200cm sensing distance, strong resistance to sunlight interference and a response time of 500ms or less. The transmitter has a 35-40° cone-shaped emission angle and the receiver has a 15-20° receiving angle.

With IP67 protection and a compact housing with mounting holes, the sensor is designed for a variety of indoor and suitable outdoor applications. It can operate across highly light-transmissive containers in appropriate installations. Detection reliability depends on proper transmitter-receiver alignment and the optical properties of the target.

  • The supplied receiver wiring diagram illustrates a relay connected between VCC and OUT with a flyback diode across the relay coil. Keep the connected load within the specified current rating.

Installation Notes

  • Mount the transmitter and receiver facing each other, with a clear optical path between them.
  • Align both units and test detection at the intended installation distance.
  • Ensure the controller input and any connected relay are compatible with the NPN output and its load rating.
  • Highly transparent objects or containers may not reliably interrupt the beam; test the actual material before use.
