TEC1-12703 40x40mm Thermoelectric Cooler 3A Peltier Module
Thermoelectric coolers (TEC) — often called a thermoelectric module — create a temperature difference, generating a hot side and a cold side. This allows the module to either cool or heat components depending on supply polarity. Additionally, you can even generate power using the temperature differential.
This thermoelectric peltier module performs efficiently when the hot side is properly cooled. After the power is applied, the hot side heats up while the cold side cools rapidly. A heatsink is strongly recommended to avoid thermal saturation. Using a CPU heatsink and power supply can make the cold side drop so low that touching it becomes uncomfortable.
A peltier module 12703 works as a small semiconductor-based heat pump. When powered using a 12V DC or regulated voltage up to 15V, it transfers heat from one side to the other. Such thermoelectric module systems are widely used in CPU cooling, CCD stabilization, mini refrigerators, and temperature-controlled equipment.
