With this peltier cell cooling system, one side becomes hot while the other becomes cold — allowing you to either cool down or warm up components simply by supplying power. Additionally, if properly set up, the temperature differential can be used to generate electricity.
This Peltier module performs best when the hot side is actively cooled. Once powered, the hot side warms up quickly while the cold side becomes cold fast. Without a heatsink or similar heat-dissipating solution, the unit will soon reach equilibrium and lose effectiveness. For optimal results, we recommend using a CPU heatsink or a metal block to draw away heat. In our tests, a PSU plus CPU-heatsink setup made the cold side drop so low that touching it became uncomfortable.
