This is a nice little temperature sensor. It's been working well as a solar powered pool thermometer. 5 sensors, each 3 feet in length. The wire are appropriately colored (red and black, and data is yellow). So far it's been just fine in the water (a few days now) so the waterproofing seems good.
I bought these to put down our geothermal wells and hot springs. You can parallel them in great quantity, for very simple wiring when using multiple sensors.Every one of these has a unique serial number that allows them all to "talk" on the same wire to the microcontroller. And there's no analog sensor extra components nonsense to deal with on long wires. I can have a bunch of these down our deep well, and the maximum temperature rating will allow them to get a true picture of temperature gradient down the WWII-era tungsten ore-processing plant hot well.I've waited a LONG time to get these via eBay- here's where to get them in a hurry.
I will only buy the "Waterproof" DS18B20 sensors now. I use to buy the cheaper ones with the 3 pins that you would have to solder on your own cable, but I always had issued with the cables going bad on them. Since switching to these I no longer have any problems.TIP: Black lead goes to ground. Red lead goes to 3.3vdc and yellow is your data line.
These probes are easy to wire and there's tons of options for Arduino based platforms to get readings for them. I'm using at least one of them for sous vide monitoring over mqtt with an esp8266, and the logging has been accurate and stable so far. No resistors or any other external components are needed to interface with it. They also seem to be sealed really well, so no worries about water ingress when used as a immersed temperature probe.
Sensors all work and are within the DS18B20 tolerance of plus or minus .5 degrees C. I'm not sure about the waterproofing yet. Would give them 5 stars if the ends of the leads were soldered or had pins on them.
I previously purchased from another seller, and all 5 sensors did not work.
These worked out great for my Arduino. I had no issues. I would get these again if needed.
This is an accurate and easy temperature probe for 1-Wire systems.
These are great little sensors, and well calibrated. Mine were within 0.1C absolute, and very consistent. Easy to get running on a raspberry pi, even without a pullup resistor. I'll be buying lots of these.
I have them connected up to a Arduino to monitor temperatures in an aquarium.Works great and appears to be more accurate than the aquarium thermometers you buy in the stores.
