5MM 5516 LDR Photosensitive Resistor

The 5MM 5516 LDR resistor is a high-sensitivity ldr light sensor that changes its resistance according to the intensity of ambient light falling on its surface. This Light Dependent Resistor (LDR), also known as a photoresistor, is commonly used in light-sensing applications—such as automatic outdoor light ON/OFF systems or indoor smart lighting controls.

As light exposure increases, the resistance of the sensor decreases, allowing precise detection of brightness variations. Therefore, the 5MM LDR light sensor works effectively in both bright and dark environments. Because photoresistors are simple yet reliable, they remain one of the easiest ways to measure ambient light in electronics.

Built with two Cadmium Sulphide (CdS) photo-conductive cells, this ldr resistor features a spectral response similar to the human eye. As light intensity rises, its resistance falls proportionally. Moreover, it ensures fast response and high reliability in devices such as smoke detectors, automatic lighting systems, batch counters, and burglar alarms.
